I Am A: Lawful Good Human Fighter (3rd Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-15

Dexterity-14

Constitution-14

Intelligence-12

Wisdom-16

Charisma-14

Alignment:
Lawful Good A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment because it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Fighters can be many things, from soldiers to criminal enforcers. Some see adventure as a way to get rich, while others use their skills to protect the innocent. Fighters have the best all-around fighting capabilities of the PC classes, and they are trained to use all standard weapons and armor. A fighter's rigorous martial training grants him many bonus feats as he progresses, and high-level fighters have access to special melee maneuvers and exotic weapons not available to any other character.

Find out What Kind of Dungeons and Dragons Character Would You Be?, courtesy of Easydamus</a></b> (e-mail)

(And yes, I know some of you already read Nathalie's post!)

Anyhow, the phone number is 613-421-7769. I chose the number because 6095 and 5625 were already taken, the guy said I could only pick something in the 7000s and up. I picked 7777, but that was taken, so he said 7769 and I picked it. It has 69 in it, yeah, I know.

So anyways, that's it peeps. That's all I gots for now.
Well, not quite yet...

I finally got my desk set up the way I wanted, so I finally have a decent work area to write posts. . . amongst other things. Me and my Dad found this desk in the garage when me and Nathalie moved in. It was pretty beat up (the people who owned this thing taped up the drawers so they wouldn't fall out when they moved it.) So it had all sorts of scuffs, scratches, leftover tape, etc. . . So me and my Dad sanded it then spraypainted it black. Now I have a four drawer desk that I got for about 17$ (the cost of the sanding meterials and spraypaint.)

Slowly, but surely, things are shaping up around here. I'm done with the basement; everything's set up down there. The kitchen is almost done. Willow's room is as good as it's gonna get for now, same for the office and tv room. So really, all that's left is to finish the living room still full of boxes (Nathalie's stuff mostly) and our bedroom.

We're definately planning a house warming party. Maybe not now, but at least by the end of of July, we're planning to thrown a bash in honor of the new house.

Also, me and Nathalie have been in talks with Lindsay about going to La Ronde in Montreal on July 8th. Hoorah! It'll make up for the fact that I'm working Canada Day. :( Oh well.

That's about it for now. We've both been very busy, so really, that's all there is to report for now. You guys take it easy and we'll see you all very soon!

MartMan, out!

Well, I guess here's as good a place to announce it. Me and Nathalie are the new occupants of 242 Romulus Private! And yes, to all the Star Trek: TNG fans out there, I'm well aware that I'll be "living on Romulus" so go ahead, make your jokes, I'll wait. . .

. . .

Done? Good!

Me and Nathalie are scheduled to move on June 4th. The previous tenants are moving out in lare May, and it'll take them that long to fix up the place for us. Obviously they're taking care of all the minor restorations, but what's great is that they're going to revarnish our hardwood floors and paint the house the colors we want. . . well. . . the colors Nathalie wants, but like I'd care anyways.

The house is huge. It's open concept, so everything is open, no small hallways or anything. The living room is giant and well fit to entertain. There are four bedrooms upstairs and 1.5 nathrooms. Obviously we'll be taking the Master, another will be for Willow, one will be an office and the last one a den for tv and such.

Because the unit is so huge, the basement, while unfinished is monstrously big. We have a washer and dryer and plenty of storage. It also has a garage which is pretty big inside, and should easily accomodate my van. Oh, and a laneway, albeit miniscule. The visitor's parking is right across our unit for those visiting and the backyard even has planters!

That's all that comes to mind right now, but you'll all see it soon enough. With all of me and nat's friends though, I wonder how many house warming parties we'll have to hold, lol.

MartMan, out!

    <lj:music>The theme from 24</lj:music>

I feel like updating. No, no, don't alert the media. That's even if people still read this.

I've been working lately. Alot of people use that excuse, but I'm still gonna use it. For the last three months, I've been living what could almost be described as the typical adult life. I wake up in the morning for the typical 8 to 5 (or 12 to 8, depending on the day of course) where afterwards I proceed to Nathalie's apartment where she waits for me with dinner on the table. We eat and then put Willow to bed, only to watch movies or episodes of 24 or 6 Feet Under. On weekend, I find myself taking care of Willow and doing the typical Saturday thing, provided the guys aren't working. Strangely enough, that's about as typical a life you can get.

Me and Nathalie are looking for a house too. We applied at the Ideal Village Co-op here in Orleans (for those of you who don't know what a housing co-op is, it's a housing community where you need to be accepted as a member. Once accepted, you get a house. Membership, though, means responsibility. Every month, you need to volunteer on commitees; landscaping, maintenace, ruling, etc... The membership time is what keeps the costs down. Opposite to popular belief, it is not low income housing. The low costs DO come at a cost in the form of your time.) Anyhow, we applied, and after a lengthy application and interviewing process, we were accepted. . . .. . ... . ..... to be on the waiting list. They think that they'll finally get to us in 2007. So much for that. So me and Nathalie are going to look in Blackburn where there are townhouse complexes that are maybe 5$-100$ more expensive than the co-op, but they're not co-ops. Blackburn is cheap, but still accessible. Here's hoping. And don't worry, dear reader, chances are, you're invited to the house warming party.

I've been finding myself without games to play. Aside from recently finishing Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and recently getting 24: The Game, I've found myself writing more. I finished a chapter in Ultimate Story and starting my third and final short story currently named; KLIQ: Untitled. I have yet to find a suitable name for it. One that marks the finality of it, but also with an element of rebirth. Any suggestions?

Well, that pretty much sums up what I've been up to. The job is fine, as always. Everyone around me is fine too. No break downs... well, not that I know of yet. So life is about as typical as it can get. I'll see you down the road; hopefully, I'll have more exciting things to say by then. . . Later!

MartMan, out.

    <lj:music>Vegas - I don't remember</lj:music>

So I think out of the whole city of Ottawa, I was the only one working today. Frankly, I was glad because it meant clear roads for me. It took me less than 20 minutes to get back home from the West End. Score!

I've been on my own for starting-on four weeks now at work and I have to admit I love it. Although, in the back of my mind, I'm always thinking that this is still just the easy part, that the hard part is coming soon. But strangely enough, this IS the hard part. My first month on my own where I have only myself to count on SHOULD be the hardest part. Thinking of it, things should get easier with time. But there's always that fear of that unsolveable problem, or that one, big fuck-up. But I try not to think of it. This job is still too good to be true.

I got so many tools this Christmas. My parents assure me that one day, I'll be thankful that I have them, and I agree. They're all lifetime guaranteed, and once I move out, they'll be indespensible. I got quite a few movies (from myself as well, lol), and a few articles of clothing from that special someone. Luckily, it's all stuff I can wear, and will be happy to wear. Willow got almost 10 gifts from my family. Geez, when you're 3, EVERYONE wants to get you a present!!

We had out annual KLIQ dinner that went rather well last Friday. Thanks to Amanda for hosting, and Oli for cooking and organising. Saturday I went to my aunt's in Rockland and Sunday to my Uncle's. Me, Nathalie and Ian went to see Narnia on Sunday, which surprised me as being awesome.

It's nice having everyone in town; it just sucks to have to work all day. I'm free Friday peeps, phone me up!

Also, I dunno what's going on for New Years, but I would like to know soon. I'll probably open up my place, but we'll see what others have to say first. Ah well, here's to the end of a long, overdrawn and depressing year... with a hint of happy ending!

See y'all in the new year!

MartMan, out.

    <lj:music>Because of You - Kelly Clarkson</lj:music>

Hello peeps, I'm back.

There were quite a few goings-on this week, and only now do I have the time to just sit here and tell you some of it. To those who still read this journal anyways, which, in all honesty, am really curious about.

My cell phone. The number is (613) 513-6095. Sometime soon, it will replace my home line of (613) 834-9331. So that number will soon be out of service. I SHOULD always have my phone on me, but that's not always possible; especially at home. So, calling (613) 834-9568 (my parents line) is okay if you have a feeling I'm home, but just not near my phone.

My trip to Toronto. It was fabulous. The drive seemed like nothing at all, there were absolutely no problems with my van (thank God!), and everything went off without a hitch. Me and Nathalie checked in at the Novotel downtown around 8pm; there was a king sized bed and the regular hotel things, very typical. After a little down time, we got ready and took a cab to the CN Tower for our dinner reservations at 9:30pm. It was absolutely gorgeous up there with the lights spanning in every single direction. Very romantic too. Nathalie and I toasted to our One Year anniversary and had a delicious meal. Interestingly enough, I ordered potato salad for an appetizer and I ended up getting giant, yukon gold fries, stacked in a square with salad shoved in it. It was odd, but truly appetizing. Once I got the multi-hundred dollar bill (I WISH I was kidding, lol), we took a walk on the observation deck and stomped on the glass floor. We took a rickshaw ride back to the hotel under the light of the stars and downtown TO. We went back to the hotel and immediately got into bed. We ordered "The 40 Year Old Virgin" on PPV, which was hilarious. We went to sleep shortly after that.

Second Day. I took a dip in the pool around 11am, before getting ready to check out. We were out of there by about 1pm and on our way to Nathalie's sister's. We settled in and I helped them fix their cable (who knew these skills would come in handy, lol). Marie, Nat's sister, said it was our payment for letting us stay at her place. Shortly after, Nat went out with her sister to talk business and I went out to meet my friend Amanda at the University. Amanda and I haven't properly seen each other since August, so she was surprised when I told her about my job, my car, my relationship, my facial hair, the gang back home, etc. We had lunch at a Sushi place and I escorted her back to her work. We talked there a little more and I headed back. We lounged at Marie's and then eventually took the tram to an asian restaurant where we had dinner. We had a few drinks with Marie's friends afterwards and then headed back for bed. On our way, we passed by Nathan Phillips Square (TO city hall) and I casually mentioned to Nathalie, "Wouldn't it be cool if they made a movie where some hot chick runs down the side of this building with a rope attached?" People who've seen Resident Evil: Apocalypse will get that one.

Third day. We slept in 'till 10:30am about. Marie and her friends hadn't come in till 6am, so they were quite unresponsive. In the brief moment we got Marie conscious, she recommended a nice little restaurant on Queen West where they had brekfast burritoes and giant shakes. We went, had the shakes and the burrito. It was yummy. We left Toronto shortly after that. I had overpayed for parking (even though they had the best parking rates EVER! 5$ = 24hrs!) so I gave the ticket to one of Marie's friends, it was good through the 29th. We were on the road by 2pm, encountered a little TO traffic (on a Sunday!), and had a smooth ride back. Over the ten hours in all in the car over the weekend, me and Nathalie shared some pretty in-depth conversations. It's amazing what you'll talk about on long trips like that. By the time I got home, I was beat. I went to bed and was content in a succesful weekend trip!

Work. This is my last week as a trainee. As of Monday, I'm out there on my own. We've been reviewing stuff all week, but today and tomorow, we're doing tag alongs with each other; so basically, two trainees teaming up. It went good today. I also had my ladder racks installed and am getting all my supplies tomorow. It's almost time!

Misc. A friend of mine is running his own production company from home. We met in College. He gave me a DVD with an eight minute short they produced and directed. It's hilarious, so hilarious that it's gotten them some attention from Comedy Network. Congrats Nick and good luck! Also, I have a Rogers tech gathering this Friday, it shouldn't take the whole night, but for anyone looking for me, I'll be unavailable most of that night. Speaking of gatherings, Oli sent me the invites for the annual KLIQ Christmas dinner. It's something me and my friends hold every year and hope to see some of you there. In fact, there's alot of people I'd like to see over the next month. Call me if the mood strikes you. I'm working 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday 'til the new year.

That's about it for now. PHEW! This was a long one. Till next time folks!

MartMan, out!

I had a great time, but I'll be writing a post on it later since I'm a little tired from the ride back.

Also, I got a cell phone. It's a good cell, the Nokia 3220, and I'm very happy with it.
In the video game Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented, you play as a photographer who explores an old, decrepit Japanese mansion full of ghosts, which you fight with an old camera called the "Camera Obscura".

I've been playing it non-stop since I got it. It's very cool, very scary and very entrapping.

So last night, I had the same dream. Strange to say it, but I had the same nightmare as she did. There was the house, and I was alone in it with a flashlight, desperately trying to make my way through it. But there's no ghosts. No, that's not where the real terror lies in my nightmare. The scary part is that I'm in this giant, dilapidated house. . . installing CABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know. . . scary. . . terrifying even!

Lol, considering I've been doing ride along with Rogers' techs for the last few weeks and playing the game when I got home, I guess it isn't much of a surprise. ^_^

MartMan, out!

    <lj:music>Pushing Me Away - Linkin Park</lj:music>

Greetings everyone!

It's a lazy Saturday afternoon and I have yet to get to my chores. But of course, I have to update my LJ every once in a while!

Some funny things have happened in the last few weeks involving my recently acquired van. Anyhow, thank God, but everything is working fine now, but it almost seemed like at one point or another, there was something new that went wrong every day! Like last week, I'm helping my brother by driving him, Erik and his motor hoist back to Rockland to cousin's place when my car runs out of gas! Granted, there was no indication that there was no gas in there since my gas gauge was on the fritz. That problem was supposed to be fixed the following day. After walking back and forth between the Ultramar station, we got some gas back in it, but it still wouldn't start! Apparently the fuel pump broke and thus the car was screwed for then, along with us! After a few hours of standing around and wrestling in the grass, Jazou's friend came and picked us up in a car with a suspension that sounded like a squeaky bed with two people doing it.

Anyhow, from there, we got Dilawri's to agree to tow it back into Ottawa and fix it to. Which was nice. I picked it up a few days ago, and aside from a few cosmetic problems, it runs like a dream. It should be getting refitted for my ladder racks soon.

On that note, work is going fine as well. It's nice to know that I'll ever only be working either 0800 to 1700 or 1200 to 2000. I will work some weekends, but there's no evening shifts on weekends and I get every second weekend off! These ride alongs are great to. You get to see a wide variety of housing in Ottawa. I also hang out with very potty mouthed techs. I noticed myself swearing more too, better look into that :S lol.

Bleach is a very awesome show to get pumped up to. I need to do alot more exercise and eat a helluva lot better. This growing tummy of mine is starting to scare me. I remembered saying to myself all my life, I'll never become fat! I'll never be the one who gets the beer belly! Before I truly start going back on my word, I need to get out and exercise more!!

Also, there's a lack of video games, but yet, I still find myself not writing as much as I would like. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who wanted to proof read/edit and criticize my latest short story which is Martin M. Richer's KLIQ: Supremacy. It's been done for like four months now and I've already gone through it a few times. What I want is for someone to read it and tell me where I should trim and elongate or explain things better. Any volunteers? I'm serious though, I don't want someone to read half of it in a month and let it go. I'm looking for full-read and feedback in two weeks or less! Anyhow, just let me know guys!

I think that's all I gotta say for now. I miss alot of you out there and Christmas vacation is coming soon! Also, I'm gonna take a trip up to Toronto with Nathalie on the 25th of November. I'm a little excited. I need to get away from everything, if only for a weekend. So much has been going on the last few months that I need to let it all sink in.

Have a great month guys!

MartMan, out!

    <lj:music>Seinfeld on TV</lj:music>

It's been almost a month since since my last real update, but I don't think anyone missed out on too much. I'm in training all day, every day of the week, and either play games all night or spend the night at Nathalie's.

Anyhow, alot of my time has also been attributed to getting my Chevy Venture! I definitely don't reccommend the used-car shopping experience. It was one of the most frustrating and emotionally and physically draining experiences, but we settled with the Venture from Dilawries. It's a 1999, red with 120000km. A great car. Too bad it's already in for repairs. ^_^ I'll be getting it back in a few days. Plus getting insurance wasn't a picnic either. But it's over now, and I own a car!

Training is good and we're doing Hi Speed internet this week. Next week we're doing Rogers Home phone, followed up by ride alongs in the following weeks. I'm really glad at how easily I'm getting through the training. We're in class with contractors (guys who work for companies contracted to Rogers). There's a HUGE difference in attitude between us and the contractors (Us being in-house Rogers techs). Since there's about a 30% pay difference between us and the contractors, they tend to do quick shotty work so that they can do more work in a day and get more money for it. Anyhow, all the people I've talked to say that HES (Home Entertainment Specialist, whay I am) is where all the money is. I can make upwards of 200$ a day. . . This is still a little extreme for me. I'm not used to things going this right, lol. ^_^

Anyhow, I guess that's all I got for now. It's getting cold and Halloween is almost upon us! I love Halloween! Someone should throw a Costume Party!

MartMan, out!

It's true, Halloween is coming soon; truly one of my fav holidays!

Also, my birthday is upon us which will be not this monday, but the next one after that. Party planning, people? Perhaps the Saturday or even the Sunday! Maybe not as huge as last year, but definately, a nice dinner in Orleans and whatever else afterwards!

Also, I got a call from a reputable communications company the other day offerring me a poaition as a CABLE INSTALLER!!
You wanna know one thing I really regret? Getting a part time job when I was in High School. I mean, I don't wanna bash Loblaws; after all, I was simply a 15 year old kid when I started, and I literarily had more money than I could spend at the time. Not to mention the friends I made over time and the great experiences I had. But something was always missing, and I just was too young and naive to figure it out at the time.

After all, was it really necessary for a 15 year old kid to have a job? Especially of the calibre that my Loblaws job was? It wasn't. Seriously. I mean, did I have a car to pay off? No. Did I have a mortgage? Or rent? No. Am I raising any kids here? No. If anything, I was basically working to pay off my habit of gourmandise (damn you fast food!) and buying the occasional video game every couple of months. Seriously, these are definately things I coulda done without.

But Martin, you say, to this day, you still eat out like there's no tomorow, and buy even more ridiculously expensive video games, along with all the OTHER things you have to pay now that you're a 21 year old College Graduate. Aren't you happy that your part time job taught you responsibility and the importance of making money?

Bullshit.

At 15, unless you're in a situation where money is absolutely necessary (talking about keeping a roof over you and your parents head necessary), a part time job is just another way of spoiling kids and enforcing their bad habits by giving them more money to spend.

Call me naive, but I really feel that I had to sacrifice a lot when I got my job at Loblaws. In fact, I feel a little embarassed now that I think about it. I used to proudly point out my five year service to Loblaws in job interviews, claiming that I was able to "learn how the real job world works" and bullshit like that.

What about all the things I missed out on because I was a 15 year old kid saying, "Sorry, I gotta work on that day." Namely, and I use the term loosely, a youth.

Think about it. How many times did you pass up an oppurtunity to go up to a friend's cottage for a weekend, or do a car wash to support the sports team you're on, or miss that Blue Belt test in your Karate class, or do a food drive with your church, or put off that volcano experiment, all because you were working?

Of course, you probably wouldn't be on any sports teams if you had a job. Same with taking Karate. The friends that didn't have a job had SUCH an AMAZING time at the cottage, too, don't forget. They'll definately tell you ALL about it on Monday. Also, chances are, you booked Sunday's off from work since you go to church, but the reality of it is that you are DEFINATELY more likely to have said "Screw it!" and succumbed to that P.O.S. dollar fifty more an hour and worked. Chances are, too, that you're science partner went ahead and did the experiment without you, leaving you with that guilty feeling in your gut when he hands in the report and says "I understand, 'you had to work'," and doesn't tell the teacher that you had NO FRIGGIN' PART at all in the project.

This is what I'm talking about, people. Again, I hate sounding naive, but isn't it weird how you always see these shows on TV with characters that still play on Football teams, and still join after school clubs in order to do something more productive than wasting time at home watching TV. That's CERTAINLY not the world we live in today. Wouldn't that be more fun than fucking bagging shit at Loblaws so they can give you a 100 dollar paycheck so you can buy yourself a TV, Nintendo or video game so that you can lock yourself up in your room and tell your friends "I worked today man, I'm just gonna stay home and watch TV alone."

Don't get me wrong. It would be pretty goddamn hypochritical of me to knock TV and video games, I still think they're friggin' GREAT! But what was once meant to be a passtime has now taken over our lives, and one day our children will end up the same, or worse even. I see my parents enjoy watching a few episodes of "Six Feet Under" or "Trailer Park boys" together for an hour or two later in the evening. But that's after coming home from a demanding job, MAKING dinner and going out SAILING for God's sake! Makes you feel a litte pathetic doesn't it after you 'do your homework' on your night off, eat the dinner THEY MADE for you and snap at them when they tell you to stop playing video games after two hours. Oh God! The heethens to bother you while you're watching those reruns of Friends that you've probably seen a thousand times. It's okay though, you've only seen the following episode of Seinfeld 1001 times, they can talk to you then.

My point is that there's so much more out there to do after school that's a hundred times more constructive and fun than pushing up carts at Loblaws. I remember back in ninth and tenth grades, I was part of the Improv Club and would meet once a week at Lunch time for the Computer Users Club. In all honesty, it was great. We got to compete in an Improv tournament and I can't believe the free games and software I got once I would hand in my reviews for the Computer Users Club. They GAVE me Encarta '98, a hundred dollar application, just for writing a review on it. Jesus Christ people! They gave me an indispencibal homework tool that I still use TODAY for participating and writing a simple review. I coulda said the program was shit and even then they would have given it to me because they were interested in my opinion, not some sort of cheap endorcement. And the Improv tourney? It was a province wide tourney that we ranked extremely low on. We won only two out of our six matches. Did I regret it? HELL NO! I got to miss class, I had a BLAST with my teammates, AND I can't remember a more fun time where I laughed so much my sides ached. And that's not even mentioning the Ski Club!

But all that changed that faithful day in late May when I received that call from Loblaws saying "We want you to work for us!" I signed up right away. I worked the whole summer. (Hey, I never said anything about SUMMER JOBS! No harm in those :P) When I got back in the Fall, no more Ski Club, no more Improv team, no more Computer Users Club, no diddly squat. I had to work. And there's no way that someone can juggle studies, job and extra curricular. Fuck you. It doesn't work unless you're some sort of goddamn overachiever. I definately wasn't.

Frankly, I don't entirely blame myself. There was no Improv team the second Semester of grade ten. Everyone had gotten a job or found something else better to do. I honestly didn't give it a second thought then 'cause everyone was getting a part time job. If anything, I was secretely gloating to all my friends that I was one of the first!

I remember when my brother got into school as well. There's another classic example of the after school job movement. They all wanted to be like their big sisters and brothers and all had jobs by the end of grade fucking nine. I remember how lackluster they were. School spirit sure took a fucking dive that year. Pathetic.

Anyhow, the point is that there's so much more oppurtunities out there by skipping the "after school job" altogether. You end up with kids trying out new things with their free time instead of abandoning their youths. Call me old fashioned, but I wanna live in a world where there IS a football team, a science club, a youth council and even an Improv group. What about music lessons? Martial Arts? Art Classes? Cooking? Audio Visual? Scouts? Or HELL! What about volunteet work or co-op placements?! I dunno, but I somehow get the feeling that "Studied the Clarinet for seven years" or "logged in over 200 hours at the retirement home" looks a lot better on a resume than "Worked as a cashier at Loblaws for five years." Big fucking deal. There's no pride there my friend.

Overall, kids are trying to grow up WAY too fast nowadays and aren't really kids anymore. High School doesn't finish 'til you're at least 17 nowadays. How about you guys hold off on that part time job until Senior Year where you have to start saving for College or University? Get involved more, and invest time in things you actually like. If you need money so goddamn badly, do some chores for your parents, or get a paper route or babysit. I guarantee you that these jobs won't interfere as much. And if you can't stop spending, getting active in a club or after school acitivity will give you something more constructive to do. Mall closed by the time you get out of your activity? That's the point, loser. :P

Anyhow, I know this reflects badly on me because it sounds like I'm being pretty fucking hypochritical here, but I remind you, that I'm saying this is what I regret. It's too late for me, but hopefully my children will learn from my mistakes and live rich and fun youths as opposed to bitching about Loblaws as they talk to their friend on the phone, watching TV. Did I mention that their best friend is their goddamn neighbor? lol :P.

That's my regret.

MartMan, out.
